Data Challenge Cornwall 2021

A discussion late last year led to the realisation that many data scientists, entrepreneurs and small businesses don't know about the challenges in established Cornish industries. This led to the idea of the Data Challenge Cornwall 2021

Aims

The aims are more about developing the local tech ecosystem, not really about solving a data challenge.

  • Widen awareness of key sectors and industries in Cornwall.

  • Inspire more people into high skilled careers in Cornwall.

  • Develop relationships between industry, businesses and community.

  • Encourage new business activity around challenge solutions.

Diverse Sectors

There were data challenges from the following varied sectors:

  • Cornish Lithium - Optical Character Recognition of Historical Mining Records
  • NHS Cornwall - Visualising GP Surgery Data
  • Coastline Housing - Predicting Faults & Identifying Resident Support Needs
  • Crowdfunder - Realtime Data Visualisation of Pledge Activity and Trends
  • Smartline - Cluster Analysis for Creating Personas without Bias

Videos, Slides, Data
